わが家は平均的な日本人の住宅で、家族４人がここで暮らしています。いまの日本では共稼ぎが多く、朝から夕方までの昼間は家を空にしている家がたいへん多いです。 My house is an average Japanese one, and my family consist of four people. Nowadays almost all couples In japan work outside of the home , so there are no people home during the day.	遠くに見える山の山頂には１６世紀に武士の城が築かれており、壮絶な戦いがありました。日本国内がまだ統一されてなく、たくさんの武士の群雄割拠の時代の話しです。イエズス会のフランシスコザビエルが渡来したのもこのころです。 At the top of the hill over there there are the ruins of a 16th century castle. It was at that time that Francis Xavier came to japan.	日本の精密機械の対外輸出が盛んなことは世界中に有名ですが、日本の家庭はこうした精密機器が比較的安く入手出来ることもあって、かなり普及しています。例をあげるとカセットデッキ、ＣＤプレーヤー、パソコン、食器洗い機、全自動洗濯機、自動車、カメラ、ビデオカメラその他いろいろあります。 It is well known that Japanese technology is fighly developed, and international trade in this technology is prosperous. We can get sophis ticated electrical appliances at very low price. Almost all Japanese homes have tape recorders, compact disk players, personal computers, automatic dish washers, video cameras, etc. And almost every Japanese household owns a car.

実際私たちの町は昔から紙の工業が盛んで、日本中にいや世界中に知られています。１昨年はわが町で紙の大会が世界中から人が集まって開かれました。 Our town is world famous for traditional paper products. Some years ago paper- producers' convention was held here. Many people visited here from all over the world.	わが家から歩いて５分の所に仁淀川という川が流れています。暑い夏のこの季節には実に度々行きます。暑い夏には川につかり、岸辺で読書をするといった楽しみがあります。小さい川魚も釣れます。日本にはすぐ飲めるほどきれいな水の流れている川が数多くあり、飲料水になったり、工業につかわれたり、農業に使われます。 The Niyodo River is a five-minute walk from here. On hot summer days we very often go to the river. We go swimming, fishing, and sometimes readings by the river. We get many kinds of small fish, ayu, ugui, etc. The water in the river is very clean and good for drinking. And it is also used for industry and farming. We have lots of rivers like this in japan.
